The Body’s Blood Cleanser—The Kidneys
Filtering the Blood
Bean-shaped, and each about the size of a fist, the kidneys are remarkably sophisticated reprocessing machines. Every day, a person’s kidneys process about 200 quarts of blood to sift out about 2 quarts of waste products and extra water. The wastes and extra water become urine, which flows to the bladder. The bladder stores urine until releasing it through urination.
Other Vital Kidney Functions
The kidneys receive blood from the renal arteries (renal is another word for kidney) which branch directly from the abdominal aorta. Despite their relatively small size, the kidneys receive approximately 20% of the blood pumped by the heart.
This large blood supply enables the kidneys to:
- Regulate the composition of the blood
- Keep the concentrations of various ions and other important substances constant
- Keep the volume of water in the body constant
- Remove wastes from your body (urea, ammonia, drugs, toxic substances)
- Keep the acid/base concentration of the blood constant
- Help regulate blood pressure
- Stimulate the making of red blood cells
- Maintain the body’s calcium levels
Chronic Kidney Diseases Are Silent Killers
According to the National Kidney Foundation, 26 million Americans have chronic kidney disease and hundreds of thousands of people suffer from renal failure each year and undergo dialysis or await a kidney transplant.
Most kidney diseases attack the nephrons, causing them to lose their filtering capacity. Damage to the nephrons can happen quickly, often as the result of injury or poisoning, but most kidney diseases destroy the nephrons slowly and silently. Only after years, or even decades, will the damage become apparent. Most kidney diseases attack both kidneys simultaneously.
The two most common causes of kidney disease are diabetes and high blood pressure. People with a family history of any kind of kidney problem are also at risk for kidney disease.
The key to healthy kidney function is to support the kidneys with KIDNEY–CLEAR™ along with a proper diet. KIDNEY-CLEAR™ is a compound of fourteen naturally occurring herbs scientifically proven to be pharmacologically rich in constituents which aid in the optimum performance of the kidneys.
